2008:

In June, Mr. Xinghua Li, director of Guangdong Provincial Science & Technology Department, paid an inspection visit to Guangzhou Science City to determine the address for South China Center for Innovative Pharmaceuticals (SCCIP);

On October 10, SCCIP was officiallyestablished;

In November,the first meeting of SCCIPcouncilwas convened, in which the SCCIP regulations were adopted, and management policy and structure were determined;
In December, SCCIP was listed as one of three innovation platforms in key construction projects of the reform and development of the Pearl River Delta Region Planning Framework (2008-2020).

2009:

In May, SCCIP became an independent entity to undertake the mission for “South China Comprehensive New Drug R&D Platform” in the projects of the “Key Innovative Pharmaceuticals”in the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan”;
In December, SCCIP was approved to set up a Guangdong Base of Scientific and Technological Talentsby Guangdong Provincial Science & Technology Department

2010:

In April, SCCIP signed a cooperation agreement with Livzon Pharmaceutical Group Inc. and Guangzhou Yinhe Sunlight Biological Products Co., Ltd. for technology transfer and industrialization of refined Vaccinum Encephalitis B;In May, Mr. Guowei Sang, vice-chairman of the NPC, led an expert team of the national “Key Innovative Pharmaceuticals” project to inspect SCCIP;
In June, the function orientation and development direction as a business accelerator for SCCIP were further confirmed at the fourth meeting of the first SCCIP Council;
In August, SCCIP signed a cooperation agreement with a joint innovation team of vaccine project to establish “Southern China United Vaccine Institute”;
In September, Guangzhou IRD Medicine Co. Ltd settled at SCCIP;
In December, SCCIP worked with Guangdong Institute for Drug Quality to establish “Drug Quality Study and Validation Platform”;

SCCIP worked with HEC Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd to establish “HEC Technical Center of SCCIP”;

SCCIP worked with Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences and Guangdong General Hospitalto establish Guangdong South China Drug Clinical Assessment Center;

2011:

In January, SCCIP worked with Guangxi Nanning WINCON Biotechnology Co., Ltd to establish Laboratory Animal Center;
SCCIP worked with Zhongshan PharmaSS Corporation to establish Assessment and Technology Platform for Preclinical Pharmacokinetics;
In March, SCCIP worked withLaboratory Animal Center ofSun Yat-Sen University to establish Joint Laboratory for Screening and Assessment of New Drug Toxicity;

SCCIP worked withGuangdong Landau Biotechnology Co., Ltd. to establish Experiment and Technology Center for Primates;

SCCIP worked withGuangzhou Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry to establish South China New Drug Safety Assessment Center;

In April, entrusted by Guangdong Provincial Science & Technology Department, SCCIP assisted to organize an examination council for the defense assessment meeting for the “Key Innovative Pharmaceuticals” mission of Guangdong Major Scientific and Technological Projects in 2011;
In June, SCCIP successfully completed the topics defense for the project of “South China Comprehensive New Drug R&D Platform”; SCCIP held the special project promotion for Sichuan University and signed the strategic cooperation agreement with Sichuan University; the “New Drug R&D Innovation Team” introduced by SCCIP and headed by Professor Shuo Lin was granted the title of “Innovative R&D Team in Guangdong Province”, and became the first successful R&D innovation team in its application in SCCIP.
